Freecom support first suggested reinstalling the drivers no change and now say it must be a hardware fault and I should send it to them for repair at my expense. If there is a fault I'll send it back to Amazon as a they'll send me a replacement first and b they'll pay the return postage.

In a nutshell, do not download the Windows Update untill you have tried the Freecom Vista Drivers first. I've sent an email to Freecom in the hope they will talk with Microsoft and remove the offeneding update. My one was one of the early ones sold by Freecom if that helps.
