Ben uses a powerful tool called an Omnitrix to help him fight Hex, his enemy. The Omnitrix allows him to take the form of various alien beings, which as you can imagine, has some fun applications for gaming.

At the beginning of The Rise of Hex, Ben only has access to 2 alien forms, but you can unlock more through making progress in the game. Almost every puzzle in the game is in the form of switch puzzles. You have to move platforms through switches in order to open up gaps and make your way through.

Although this is entertaining on the first level or two, after that it quickly becomes mind numbing as you find yourself faced with even more of these puzzles. The actual graphics of Ben 10 look pretty good. If you capture a screenshot of the game and look at it, the work looks crisp and clear, but actually play the game and issues become obvious. Loading screens take forever to get through, and there are some issues with close combat.

The game is intended for one to four players aged seven or over that plays like a virtual board game with bright colorful cartoon animation in which the object of the game is to steal the powers of ten alien superheroes in order to save the world. Players use Ben's Omnitrix to determine how many spaces around they move on each turn. On some spaces there are mini game challenges which, if completed successfully, will add an alien power to the Omnitrix.

On other spaces there are hazards which can send the player back to the start or rob them of one of their acquired super powers. The first player to collect all superpowers is the winner. After accomplishing their mission, they meet with a full sized Humungousaur who easily takes down the remaining towers. While exploring the wreckage of the towers, the team discovers that the Highbreeds are planning to make a giant arch.
